2008 WINNERS PROFILE:

Penn Pharmaceutical Services

Tredegar-based Penn Pharmaceutical Services has beaten competition from dozens of organisations in Wales to win an International Trade Award.

Designed to recognise excellence in export, import and international trade achievement, The International Trade Awards selected Penn as winner of the Wales category in recognition of the company's diverse global customer base.

Peter George, chief executive of Penn, said, ''Penn's international presence is fast-growing with 70 per cent of our client base being outside of the UK. We're increasingly working with more overseas companies who need our services, manufacturing or import and release of commercial and clinical pharmaceutical products into the European market. To win the International Trade Award is a real boost for Penn, recognising the investment we have made to extend our geographical footprint across Europe, North America and Japan to better serve international companies. We believe the range of services we offer and our commitment to providing timely, personal and flexible management of projects has been key to our success.''

2007 WINNERS PROFILE:

Daniels Fans Ltd

Daniels Fans Ltd, a privately-owned company based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, which designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of industrial fans, has been judged the Welsh regional winner in the 2007 International Trade Awards sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland and organisedby International Trade Today magazine as part of its 70th anniversary celebrations.

Daniels' innovative approach to product development and its courage and foresight in investing heavily in R&D;, automation, computer systems and training to ensure that it remained competitive in global markets amounted to an unbeatable package.

The judges were particularly impressed with the way in which the firm fought back from adversity in 1989, when a rapid decline in its UK market meant it had to find new markets or face closure.
