2007 WINNERS PROFILE:

NISA International

Home comforts abroad thanks to exporting excellence

The final regional winner in the 2007 International Trade Awards, sponsored by the Royal bank of Scotland, is Nisa International, which has earned the Yorkshire and Humberside accolade

With international business growing an average 20 per cent a year for the past seven years, Nisa International expects turnover to top £20m in the current financial year. It now claims to be probably one of the largest grocery export wholesalers outside the US.

Founded in 1989 as DeeBee Worldwide, part of D B Ramsden and Co, Nisa International has set out to respond to the market needs of British expatriates living in Spain, North America, the South Atlantic and further afield. In doing so, it has also developed new markets for traditional UK branded consumer goods, which have expanded and sold to domestic consumers in those markets.

Managing director Sean Ramsden described the company’s philosophy: ‘Core to Nisa International’s success and operation is that it adds value to commodity products through our unique technology, multilingual customer service, flexible logistical support and product localisation (typically translation of packaging to support local needs and legislation).

Russell Grazier, regional sales director for the North at RBS said, 'Congratulations to Nisa International for winning the regional award. It's clear to see why the judges were impressed with their expanding exporting business and thriving website. We're looking forward to finding out who will win the National Award announced at the awards lunch in April.'
