2007 WINNERS PROFILE:
4i2i Communications Ltd
Scotland's regional winner in the International Trade Awards 2007, sponsored by RBS, is 4i2i Communications Ltd of Aberdeen. Founded in 1995 the company started with just one employee and now has 23. Turnover has increased significantly and the company is profitable.
In the view of the judges '4i2i ticks all the right boxes for a young, dynamic, innovative company operating effectively and profitably in the challenging global market for hi-tech products. They have defined clearly their niche, established their customers' needs and used effective marketing channels to get product to market. They are a classic "better mousetrap" supplier and the big electronics companies are beating a path to their door.'
4i2i undertakes micro-chip design to enable the most difficult part of digital video to happen. It then licenses its software and intellectual property cores for use in semi-conductor devices. High performance video coding IP cores are used for applications in closed circuit TV, video conferencing, broadcast TV and mobile telephony.
