ABOUT THE AWARDS
Given the importance of exporting, importing, inward and outward investment to the UK economy, we have identified an opportunity to recognize the success and achievements of outstanding UK companies involved in international trade, to promote them as role models, and to encourage other UK businesses to strive for success in world markets.
This is achieved through direct contact with UK business representatives at International Trade Award events and through the generation of press coverage of the national and regional finalists and winners.
The celebrations of the international trade achievements of outstanding UK companies, the International Trade Awards 2008, run from January 2008 to December 2008, with a national final ceremony in February 2009.
Objectives of the Awards
1. Identify and reward the UK's most successful and innovative exporters
2. Promote the UK's top exporters as corporate role models in order to stimulate greater involvement in international trade amongst UK businesses
3. Promote the leading exporters of local and regional areas to encourage international trade by all companies irrespective of size and location
4. Further develop community awareness of the importance of exporting to the UK's economic future

HSBC and International Trade Today magazine partner the presentation of this national program, the only national business awards in the UK exclusively for exporters and importers.
How the Awards work
The International Trade Awards is comprised of a series of twelve Regional International Trade Awards.
Winners from each Region are announced at presentation ceremonies held from February through to December with the winners automatically progressing as national finalists to the International Trade Awards.
Regional winner to National finalist
The International Trade Awards culminates in February 2009 with the announcement of the National Category Winners and the UK International Trade Company of the Year at a prestigious Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation.
